Default d15b cam/AEM gear into z6, serious timing issues

*Disclaimer* I never tackled timing problems on my own before, so I don't know much about this problem.

I recently had my local import shop install a JDM d15b cam, and AEM cam gear into my z6. When I first started it when I picked it up, it idled fine. Upon heading home, I instantly noticed it ran like crap. Not missing or hesistating, just running like a stock cx lol. I took it back the next day and let them know about the issue. No problem, they took it back and said it would be fixed. So I go today to pick it up, and find out what's up. My timing was out, pretty bad. They fixed it the best they could, but its not perfect. It's at 12 degrees, when it should be at 16, but they couldn't seem to get any more out of it. We think the Unorthodox crank pully has something to do with it. I was told if I brought up the stock crank pully and cam gear, it could more than likely be fixed. It runs "okay" now, but my dizzy is fully advanced(toward firewall), and the gear reads +3. So my questions are: are Unorthodox crank pullys known to have incorrect timing marks? Whats wrong with my motor? What can I do to get this fixed myself? Sorry if this sounds vauge, I'm rushing out the door (late for work) lol. Thanks in advance for your help.
