98 civic Hatch changed to 5 Speed
hey guys my friend has a 98 civic auto, i just changed it, to stick, well and the only thing thats killing us, is the automatic shifter it has to be pluged in, in order to take out the key, if not it will lock and wont let me take it out like if its gear.
what can i do?? is there a way to jump the some wires and what colors are they??.
Thank you !!

well i did it with the owner of the car and he doesnt know ****, and he help but we actually took our time, just be prepaired to spen the day doing this, i saw more than 5 hours, onless you know alot then less. but, in the bottom of the car where the shiftlinkage goes bolted upto, it doesnt have it so i had to kind of getho rig it, with wholes that were already there from the automatic shifter and hammer this thing that was poping out for the cable of the auto shifter. so that the shifter has clearance to sit. or you can use lots of washers to bring it down a little. other than that, witch is not hard, it was very easy.
you gatta get the bracket from the stick version, because on the 96 and up civic the tranny mount is on the chassy, not on the tranny like 92-95 civics. the rear bracket is the same, also,. get the clutch master from that year civic 96 up with line and pedals master was 30 used, line was 35, pedals 100 all 3, tranny we got it for 120 with axles from a friend. we actually broke the left axle lastnight at moroso it ran a 16.4 running like ****, on 17 inch rims, but running like **** its still running on the auto Ecu and i have like 3 check engine codes, but this was already there.
before it was swaped.
it was fun to do this. but... just make sure you get a short gear ratio tranny it will help soooo much. trust me. i put a d16y7 with SI tranny from 90 crx with intake manifold from crx also, 8lbs flywheel stage 1 clutch, and a 89 integra zc ecu, 118 to wheels 106 trq and it did 14.5 at moroso in a crx.going boost now. i think the d16y7 is better then the y8 vtec. and you can rev motor to 7500 insted of 7200 that it does now. sorry so long bro if you need anything else email me lowcopr19@yahoo.com
