How to eliminate auto shifter
i converted the 98 hatch to stick but i cant seem to remove the automatic shifter because if i do i cant take out the keys, so i have to leave it at park. what are the wires that i have jump in order for it to work to take out keys without needing the auto shifter.
PLEASE!!! HELP.

lol, theres a plastic **** on the shifter base, push it to the side, or down, shrug the key will come out. You have to remove the console part, it should be white.

right now i have it so it i can take out the key but i got that big as **** just sitting there on the floor, i really didnt get what you were trying to tell me, so if you can explain just a little better it will help me.

Do you have a Helms Manual? Hell, even a chilton's or haynes willd do. Check out the wire diagrams then it becomes almost self explanatory. I'm sorry I can't be more specific than that, but I dont happen to be home near my books at the moment.
Also, unplug the blue interlock box, it was bolted where the clutch pedal now resides.

What you need to do is cut the plug from the auto shifter assembly, and leave about 5 inches of wire.
There are two really fat wires. This is so that you can start the car. You will need to connect these two together. Or what you can do is, run these wires to the switch on the clutch pedal assembly.
Then there is a black wire you will need to connect to a green wire with a white stripe. This puts the car in “park” so you can take the key out.
