Default SOHC flywheel/clutch install help

I got an act xtreme clutch for my d16y8. I bought a longblock and it had the flywheel, so I had it resurfaced. I know the clutch is the right one. The pressure plate won't line up, and the pilot bearing is too big. I've heard that the flywheels on certain sohc del sols were different than other d series. I'm wondering if the long block I bought was maybe from one of these years?? I guess my question is, was there a different flywheel used in some d series? I can take my stocker out and resurface, but I wanna make sure before I swap motors....

Yeah what he said...you will have to tap it in with a special tool or do it with a large socket and just be careful.

Thanks for the help, and I don't doubt you guys, but I have to say, I'm almost 100% positive I have the right clutch, and the PP doesn't line up with anything. In the act catalog it says that for a few years of del sols, you would have to use a different d series flywheel for this clutch. Maybe by some chance I do have the wrong clutch, but its the only one in the catalog, and the only complication it said was with del sols. My car is a 98ej8, so I'm assuming if there are actually different flywheels, that the right one is sitting in my current tranny..I hope...anyone else??

I've been searching all day and I know I have the right clutch now. Its either that they sent me the wrong PP with the kit somehow, or the myth I heard about the flywheels is true. Bump to see if anyone knows more about the flywheels... I just wanna get this thing on

waitwaitwait....

I think I found the answer...someone let me know if I MAY be right...
I bought the d16y8 off someone who had previously used it in they're crx. I don't know where the swap originally came from, but as far as I see online, it says if you use this clutch with a crx, you have to use a 90-00 sohc flywheel for it to work. I'm now assuming that I have an older sohc flywheel...someone simply tell me if this could be right...

A SOHC flywheel is a SOHC flywheel.
Use a socket and a rubber mallet to tap in the pilot bearing..

goodluck

The only flywheel that is different is the early 88-89 ones which have a smaller clutch.

Thats the answer I was looking for....the PP looks large on the flywheel. The kid musta gave me his crx flywheel when I bought it. Too bad I paid to resurface it! Thanks!!!!!!!!!

They have pilot bearing puller tools, and you use a slide hammer to pull it out. This didn't work for me though, I think the easiest way is to remove the flywheel (since you'll have to anyways to resurface it), and knock it out.
