Default Pizza Delivery R

I know, what a terrible idea. I have been doing it off and on for about a year and a half (when my gramps car is unavailable, or i need VTEC to keep me healthy)

My question is: Do you think that starting the engine, driving the car for 5-45 mins, and shutting it off frequently will ware on the plugs and/or anything else very quickly? Would this make my car run poorly after doing alot more street miles than highway miles? What should I look out for? I usually work 4-5 hours a night.

My car feels great, sounds right, but b4 my recent valve adjustment( at 30k), and new plugs (along with the 30k service) I took my R to the drag strip for the first time and was falling shorter than most R's performance. (All stock)

I get lots of strange noises, depending on weather, temperature of car, or god knows what else. No loud knocks, ticks, grinds, or anything like that. I have 36k on the car, and about 6-8k of it is pizza delivery. Now, keep in mind that when i deliver, i go to multiple houses at a time when its busy, so i leave the car running while i run to the door. However, there are times when i go down the street and back over and over again.

I am not really asking you to tell me how stupid it is to deliver pizza with the R (Im aware), I am asking you what exactly are the problems I should expect as my R grows old from this stupid job. My suspension feels solid, and i take it EASY on shitty roads. Looking for mechanical issues.

Please help, and Thanks in advance!!

I forgot to mention, I beat the **** out of the R, i.e. take it to 7-8.5k about 7 times a night (@65 total miles driven)

I would consider that a somewhat harsh schedule, same thing as all city driving, and no highway miles.

EDIT: change oil more often

No, not more often than that. Just follow an accelerated maintenance schedule, severe serve, if you will, and it won't be so bad.

Although I wouldn't put it quite the way Chad did, it is just a 200 HP Civic and it's really very reliable when not modified.

If you're like the delivery drivers I know, it won't take you long to get enough cash to be able to buy a car just for delivery.

In that case, I want a foie gras as the main, and souffle au fromage for desert. I also expect a salad for me to eat after the meal. And it better be here in 30 minutes!

When you say there are no ticks, knocks, or grinds but there are very strange noises- then you probably are just catching the effect of driving a type r. The sound deadening materials you find in normal cars arent in yours. so that sounds about normal to me.

Changing the oil every 2-2.5k is plenty fine, and staying about 1k ahead of scheduled maintenance period sounds good. To restate what chad said in a nicer way, if your car is fine and the times arent up to par, work on your driving

my trap speeds were very low, maybe because it was cold and i had no traction? My launches were garbage no question, but my best was 2.299 from 4.5k. Best trap was 93.5 from 4.5k. i feel the car may have been able to hit 94-95 at best, 14.7 or so, which isnt great, in the mag's the R's are at 96+ (And Active Aero ran 14 flats stock)

Dammit!! Anyone wanna buy an R???jkjk

NOTE TO SELF: Never deliver food in NYC "Then you have NO CALZONE" -Seinfeld

I think Chad clicked on the wrong forum and became insanely jealous when he saw how sexy the R is

you know he wasnt concerned with the technical content of the answer, you are correct in stating the correlation between a civic and integra. Its all about the attitude.
