Default oversteer??

okay, i put some crappy generic type of coil-overs and shocks on my bro's eg6 jus cause i cant stand havin stock height. sooo...i was driving it like real hard in a place around mn...and the car starts to oversteer. the rear tires starts to lose traction before the fronts. i know it aint the tires because well they're pretty new on both ends...i know fwd are known for understeering but what boggles me is that now the car oversteer. it's not a bad thing...but i wonder why? i did a lil thing to the suspensions but i didnt think it would oversteer like it did...well, if anyone can enlighten me. please go ahead.

sinc eyou said they are shitty coil overs you could have placed the swaped the springs front to back, since most shitty coil over companies offer one rate for all hondas and acuras, its also highly likely that the rates a goofed to ****.

Also it could be simple drivers input, IE lifting the throttle, braking mid corner.

it's not lifting the throttle or brakin mid because when i accell it and then it starts to come out and plus i do all my downshifting and braking before i go into a turn. it's weird because the rear would start to lose it and then the front so it get a lil freaky since i cant control the rear like in a rwd. it doesnt come out like a drift so dont think that im tryin to drift...but u know u can jus feel the rear coming out. but the company could have had the spring rate mess up cause yeah they are pretty shitty...but i spoke to my instructor and he said that having a stiffer spring rate in a fwd would cause the rear to oversteer slightly. im thinkin it could jus be that.

in my experance the rear rate alone wont do it.

honestly save your money next time deal with the stock height for alittle longer and buy quality stuff.

I have had 2 different suspension setup on my car, the first was GC and KYB AGX, now i knew that the AGX weren't the best but i thought they would be fine, well 1 year later i sold them and upgraded to Koni yellows, now with the yellows my options are pretty much limitless.

Lesson- don't skimp out to save a dollar at present because it will end up costing you many dollars in the future

No mention of alignment after coil overs installed. If not done, toe front and rear may be positive causing the nervous feeling

the rear of hatchbacks are pretty light, not much weight over it. have a rear sway bar?

With FWD if the car starts to oversteer its very easy to correct - mat the gas and never lift or brake. Adding power will shift weigh rearward which will give the rear more traction which will stop oversteer

Since you opted to go for some crappy coilovers, I'd be willing to bet most of your problem lies right there. Are you running any type of rear anti roll bar?

Something that may also help you eliminate some oversteer is adding tire pressure to your rear tires.

Is the back higher then the front? This can make the rear whip around quite easy. May want to drop the rear 1/4 inch at a time until you get the desired effect. I find running the rear 1 inch or there abouts lower then the front makes it a bit happier in front drive cars in general.

And dam people get tire temperature gauges!!! Overall best suspension mod you can do. And it works on every car you ever get

IMO and not alot of people share it. Sway bars are a last resort. For one it doesn't seem people understand them and just throw them on the car. And 2 if you put it on the rear it will make the oversteer even worse.....go ahead and flame me people but I will take you in the twisties...

I'll raise the BS flag here. There is no way you're gonna get oversteer while applying throttle in a FF. Doing so would actually help you straighten out a slide that is already hapenning. Or you got mad skillz y0!

hmm, maybe your toe is off? I'm not that familiar with Honda double wishbone (or if eg6s have double wishbones for that matter) suspensions and how lowering affects alignment but change in toe can have a very big affect on how the car handles.
