scratches on a frame?
I'm looking to buy a sv650 off a local seller but when I got there I noticed it had some surface scratches on the naked frame. THe owner said this happend during a crash. I took a close look and the scratches look very light but there are a lot of them on the frame itself.
Any idea if this will lead to problems down the line or not?

Well I heard of people who've been in accidents in thier full fairing sport bikes where the insurance comp totals the bike because of one small scratch on the frame. I guess that's whyI'm curious if this will be an issue in resale value.

Well they are just surface scratches.. I can see that for sure. But are surface scratches an issue? That's my question.

Nope, not an issue at all.
Insurance companies will usually do what you speak of because costmetic repairs cost a butt load to fix. From a purely functional standpoint you should be just fine.

Does the bike have a clean title?
I wouldn't mind a scuffed frame if I was getting a good price on the bike.

I assume it has a clean title. When the guy wrecked the bike, it was never reported to insurance.
Well its a 2001 sv650 with 6k miles. I talked him down to $2400.

If the scratches arent that deep have it polished. I would assume the frame is aluminum correct?
IF you dont want to do that, you could always have the scratches filled in with weld, then sand it down level and refinish it. They can weld aluminum, steel and many other metals and after you grind it down you cant tell a repair was made at all. Nobody would ever know the difference. This is if it is purely cosmetic damage only. As others said, the only way to truly know if there is more damage is to have the frame gmd computrak'd.
If you dont get it, swing the info my way. I would get it purely for a track bike as that is a pretty good price.
