Default cannot remove pcv valve

hi all,

i'm a noob too all this stuff; most i've done is change oil/filter. engine = f22b2. but i'm trying to change the PCV valve but it just won't come off the hose. it comes off the valve cover just fine (i'm assuming cuz of the oil?), but it is sealed on soooo tight onto the hose that leads into the intake manifold(?). tried to wiggle it out... wont budge. the other end of the hose that is connected to the intake manifold wont even budge either. what can i do to get the old PCV valve off the hose? wd-40? motor oil? anti-seize?

i've searched past posts and came across this thread...

http://www.honda-acura.net/for...valve

... but i still cant seem to get the pcv valve off the hose. im willing to change the hose too along w/ the pcv since i've read the pcv hose can get clogged up w/ carbon deposit, but i cant get the pcv hose off the intake manifold either. any suggestions?

also, i bought a $4 fram pcv from kragen auto parts. does it matter if its non-OEM? i know the OEM pcv is like $20 @ dealership. thanks!

Pull out a razor and cut it off. Then replace the hose and pcv valve.

not trying to insult your intelligence, but give it a serious TWIST, before u try yanking. you shouldnt need any lube. if that doesnt work, yea, just take a razor and cut as close to the pcv as you can.. youll probably still have enough pipe left to make it back to the valve cover

try putting the pcv valve back into the valve cover to hold it in place and then grab the hose where it goes over the pcv valve with some pliers and try twisting it. Once you are able to twist the hose you should be able to work the pcv valve out of the hose. I usually have to do this with hoses that haven't been removed in a while. Works great for me.

If you still can't get it, just cut it off the IM side and replace the pcv valve and hose. The hose should only cost you a couple bucks.

Local honda dealership wanted 16.xx for a pcv... I thought they were kidding but no... I needed it though. Anyways I would try majestic honda or whatnot online for a better price on one though.

Imo and from my own experience... the cheap autozone / advanced auto replacements are complete unreliable crap, and every one of them I have tried leaked like all hell.

I second this.

ok thanks for all the suggestions. i'm going to try the pliers + twist method and see how it goes. i figure i might as well change the hose while i'm at it. where can i get a new hose? do i have to go to the dealership? or can i just get it @ autozone? what do i ask for? "vacuum hose"? "pcv hose"?

PCV hose. Some vacuum hose material swells & gets all funky with the hot oily air that flows in the PCV system.

get pliers, hold at the butt of the pcv valve where it's connected to the hose, twist pcv couple times, if dont work replace the whole hoses and pcv valve, u can use n e hoses, as long as it works, ohh yea, nd jiffy lube sells it for about 8 bucks, i work there

using the pliers and giving it a few good twists got the pcv hose off, on both the pcv itself n IM end. thanks for all the tips!
