interesting info i found in GRM bout the R.
with all this hype about the new elise, they have an article about it.
it showed up on a list of about 7 cars that GRM ran on Central Florida's Ocala Gran Prix track.
'04 GRM neon SRT4: 37.771
'01 GRM ITR: 37.772
'05 Lotus Elise: 38.306
'95 GRM project M3: 38.498
'05 C6 vette(stock): 39.725
'01 audi TT(stock): 40.813
'98 porsche boxter(stock): 41.181
i just thought it was a bit interesting to see the almighty Hype R above the rest.
anyone know what was done to the ITR? or the neon?
it says here that the elise was ""loaded", with both the sports and the touring pack, meaning we had the stickier tires plus the upgraded interior. despite the extra 15 pounds the trouing pack adds to the final line..."
i used the elise in GT4, man that sucker was nice.

wow that is actually pretty impressive for an out-of-production car to still do so well. But then again, how much was done to the car, and how experienced was the driver with the car?

I would think the R was Scott Lears car 'GRM Scott', http://www.sandmracing.com/ . he is a very fast driver, sometimes shows up to our events in jax. His car has Tiens i think or some other high end coilover, JDM final drive, the regular bolt ons...the Neon is rigged out with suspension, engine work and other crap. I think this year it is setup for running SM and does well.

Were the times taken pre or post modifications to the cars? I know that that neon was stock for awhile. The GRM guy posts a lot in the RR/AX forum, so maybe we should ask him.

That's Scott's (GRM Scott) R.... rolling on Tein RE's i believe, ATS FD installed by moi, comptec icebox... fairly stock other than that, don't remember what else. might still be on our site, bah.
believe he was on advan's, and the SRT4 was on Hoosier AS03's.

If it was an 01 ITR then it belonged to Scott " also a HT member" and he knows car control quite well. The neon is new and full of mods last i saw so lets set the clock and try to test that neon out in say 4 more years and see who win's...
