Default Charcoal canister, & dashport controle soleniod valve

ok, i under stand that the Charcoal canister hold exess gases, but what kind, & is it really "needed"? i was looking at some diagrams that i found online, looks like its from an 88 crx helms book (i have a 90), & i noticed that since i got the d15b swap, that these 2 compnents wern't hooked up properly... infact, the dashpot wasn't even connected... my brother randomly put 2 hosees together, & i noticed today that my car ran about 1/2 as cool as it normally does when pacing at about 75-90 mph, even when i opened her up to 100-105 still cool as a whistle... so what do these 2 components do?

charcoal canister filters fuel vapors from the gas tank. its really not needed and probably not effective any longer at this point.

the dashpot is just a valve to control the flow to the charcoal canister.

as for your heating issues, these would have nothing to do with that. flush your radiator and see if that helps.
