Default moonroof problems

ok when i try to raise or move the moonroof it makes this grinding sound and i can only raise the moonroof when i push on it. Now the moonroof doesn't want to move all the way back, it just gets stuck, I tried manually doing it and it does move but when i try to close it, it seems like it's slipping or something. help?

edit: one side moves but the other doesn't when trying to close.

my 93 si did the same kinda (no grinding)

i managed to find that the recoil spring or whatever was jamming it up.. i cut it off and it closes now.. but my motor is dying so i gotta give it a lil shove and itll go back

Default pass side of the moonroof is slower to move than the driver side of the moonrf.

I wonder if I have the same problem, but i got a 93 HB si. When i open the moonroof I notice the passenger side goes a little slower than the driver side. I've lubed it up the butt, but it still does the same thing. The worst part is when I try to close it cuz the driver side will go down but the pasnger side gets stuck and I gotta push it down to shut it. any ideas as to how to fix this timing problem? All the parts seem to match and look ok. I can't find anything broken, just the timing between the two sides.

Please help!

did you have to take out your headliner to get to the motor?

no, i didn't take the whole thing off, just enough to look and see if anything looked out of the oridinary. Where's the recoil spring?

Maybe I should tell you how it got messed up. I was cleaning the moon roof and noticed that one side would sit closer to the front of the opening when it was closed and I wanted to make it more balanced so i took it off and tried to adjust it, but I went stupid and in thinking I had screwed on the bolts in place I tested the moonroof and by the time I realized it was not in place, the moonroof had fallen to one side placing more pressure on one side, but just enough to make a difference in one side's timing.

So in essence, I am looking to see how to re-adjust it. As for the recoils, will i have to take the headliner off? Is there any way to look at the recoils by just tking the moonroof off? I am guessing it has to do something with what is motioning the moving foundations for the moonroof but i am not sure beyond that.

Any ideas would help!
