Convertion OBD II to OBD I
It is true that I can convert my civic 1998 OBD II in to a OBDI?. Can any body tell me the experince of this the good and the bad thing by making this?. I will like to do this because I have a B16A head in to a B18A1 botton, and the car that I just bought is a Civic Si EX 1998 and this car has the B16A2. The new car has two O2, and I already change the muffler of 2.5 inch, without Catalytic Converter, and the problem with the ligths start. And my old ECU has 1500 more rpms. So I want to change it. I whent to modacar.com and I saw the converter but sais only for off road and I do not know why. Can any body explain me this????
very hard to understand what youre saying.
Keep your car obd2. your car is a 98? And the car your buying is a Si or Ex? If its an Si, then its either a 99-00, if its an Ex then it wouldnt have that engine in it. If the motor was put in by someone else then just use the engine harness off of the A2

I'll just reply to this peice, since the rest just confused me :-p
In many counties especially around large cities (and I'm guessing all of california, but I'm not sure.), it's illegal to tamper with the emissions system (especially on OBD2). If you're in one of these counties, and you convert to OBD1, you won't pass your inspection. Thats why they say for offroad use only, because it may not be legal in your area, and they don't want the responsibility.

Thaks, everybody... I live in Costa Rica, and the inspection is not so hard, so I can make the chage.
The car that I have, on the papers said 1998, and inside the dash SI also in the back. It is coupe. Original came with the B16A2, and OBDII system. They guy that sales me the car said that the car was 2000 year, I do not know the differences. This one has disc brake on the four wheels, a/c, h/d, p/w, c/l, sunroof and it said on the side of the car DOHC vtech.
In Costa Rica the inspection is not so hard, they do not check if you change your system or not they only care the emissions, so I put a catalytic coverter (generic one), and change the SVAFC to pass the inspection.
Anyone know what and why is better OBDI than the OBDII??

It's not really "better", it's just easier and cheaper because you can just use uberdata with OBD1. If you're not going to tune the car though, there's probably no good reason to switch.
