B16/b18c5 intercooled JRSC, AEM FPR
S/C
b16/b18c5 LHT intercooled modded JRSC LHT Performance
(selling as the car is being sold as well)
This type of kit (with the intercooler mod) has made very impressive numbers possible out of a jrsc. The guy who does these made a stock b16a hit 260whp. His personal b20 crx hit 298 whp.
LHT takes the intake mani and modds it to have lamva (sp?) tubes that run through it to allow liquid to flow through the intake to bring charge temps down to ambient. This has been proven to prevent heat soak (jrsc problem) and allows for added timing to achieve greater power gains. According to their website, the mod is $995 and the heater exchange kit (hoses, fittings, cooler, pump) is an additional $350.
I bought the supercharger used. According to the previous owner, he thought it would need to be rebuilt as he believed the bearings to be on the way out. I've read from many jrsc owners http://www.pse.us/ rebuilds the charger for $400.
I had the charger on my sol for a VERY limited time. The car ran lean and idled bad. I finally figured out that the injectors were bunk (what can you expect for paying $40 for some used dsm 450s?). The charger did not seem to make any noise that is often associated with bearings going out. At first I thought it did, but it was only loose belts, which I fixed.
So the charger may or may not need to be rebuilt. Used charger kits usually go for $1500 on HT. Add in the $1k price of the intercooler mod and $350 for the heater exchange kit, the price becomes $2850 for this kit.
I am looking to get 1,400 shipped for the kit. Even if it turns out to need a rebuild, that's still $1,000 cheaper than buying a jrsc and having it modded (plus your charger would be like new, whereas putting together a used kit, who knows). If it doesn't you get this for half of what it should cost.
(everything included in pic except alternator - need to take pulley off - and throttle body)
