Damn that sucks bro, I just picked up my motor this weekend. At least it looks better than that. but I did F*ck up my truck.

That motor is really gummed up. I opened my valve cover up to replace some gaskets nd mine was clean as a whistle. No buildup at all.
I would seriously send that thing back and get another one.

DAMN!!
That will probably cost as much as the motor did just to fix .... that sucks dude!

My first Z6 head was just like that... hehehehe The previous owner(s) did not do their 3,000 mile oil changes. Or kept it checked, allowing all that "coke" to build-up. Take a close look at your cam races, they may be damaged from the lack of lub.... Thats what happened to the first one

You wanna see pictures of the JDM B16A I got?
I wish the picture were more clear on this one (POS camera), it's a picture of the moutning point on the block for the motor mount. I guess the car this engine came from was in a front left fender wreck: http://www.fatboyraceworks.com/crx/i...6/DSCF0016.jpg
The mount was cracked. Not something you want in a car that will have incredibly stiff mount bushings, and it going to be for track only..So insteda of DoEs AnYoNe KnOw WheRe I CaN GeT SoMe StRObE LiTEZ AnD LiGhT uP WiNdShiElD NoZzLeS??ing around with welding or whatever, we just bought an LS to go with it, and built the LS/VTEC.
The mount bolts, notice it's bent?: http://www.fatboyraceworks.com/crx/i...6/DSCF0018.jpg
This was in our oil pan: http://www.fatboyraceworks.com/crx/i...6/DSCF0020.jpg
Corrosion in the spark plug holes. 3 of them were full of water (salt water I would assume): http://www.fatboyraceworks.com/crx/i...6/DSCF0023.jpg
One of the plug holes was corroded enough to cause the spark plug to be seized in there. when trying to take the plug out, the threads just broke off the plug, you can still see the tip of the plug: http://www.fatboyraceworks.com/crx/i...6/DSCF0025.jpg
You can probably tell which 3 plug holes had water in them, here are the plugs that came out (minus the threads on one of them): http://www.fatboyraceworks.com/crx/i...6/DSCF0029.jpg
Plus the VTEC sensor was broken, TPS was broken, a few nipples on the intake mnifold were bent (one broke off when bending back), and the crank pulley and alternator pulley was cracked. The whole engine was just a pain in my ***.
But it's all worked itself out.

Both of those motors are pretty DoEs AnYoNe KnOw WheRe I CaN GeT SoMe StRObE LiTEZ AnD LiGhT uP WiNdShiElD NoZzLeS??ed up! Talk about not changing your oil!!!

That motor probably never ever had an oil change in its life. When i used to work at a Toyota dealership a customer brought in a car and it had 55k miles on it and she said she never changed the oil. When we popped off the valve covers that is exactly what we saw, maybe a little worse. LOL
I did a valve adjustment on my friens XSi about 3 weks ago that looked close to that but he has never changed the Oil in about 30000km's
so that night be some of the reason's why some of the engines from over here look like bunk ..most Japanese only change there oil ever 2 years..sooo

Spoon,
Is that a Ford Ranger? I did the same exact damage to my friends truck when I went to pick up my ZC. Damages were right over 2k. Luckily his insurance covered it but I was out $500 for his deductible. LOL

That kind of buildup results from water contamination in the oil. Water contamination can happen from daily driving without changing the oil, or the engine exposed to the elements too long.
