Default h22 or gsr

Alright, so I have a 96 4dr lx w/ a d16y7. I read the swaps available thread and I just wanted some personal opinions. I'm looking to swap a new motor in, I'm thinking either H22 or B18C1... I want to turbo/build the motor later. What do yall suggest? Thanks.

unless you're going to send it out to be sleeved, i'd suggest the gsr motor. plus the H22 tranny sucks ***.

go b series most definatley h series motors are also notoriouse for losing comp. and they have really weak valves. and it would probably run about 1200 bucks just to get the mother (h series wired up)

every one and there mom has a GSR, if you never had a duce duce then don't knock it. you can by a gsr swap for about 3000 out the door, that's not even the axles. you can buy a h22 swap for 1200. the gsr has 170 at the crank, and the h22 has 200 at the crank, as for me I would go with the h22, (it's a 4dr) its a fact, it's the best bang for your buck.

i have personally had both in a civic. the h was a little qyicker but it was in a stripped hatch with a quafie. Your will be happy with both. b series parts are more available....but i liked the torque from teh h22 right from teh start. all the h22 had was intake and exhaust, witha quafie, and it ran mid 13's. the gsr in a full trim 4dr ran 14.5 with i/h/e...prolly coul have got a little quicker, but i only got 2 passes. hopes this helps a little

IMO, b for FI, h for NA. The b is designed better for turbo, but displacement rules NA.

If you can't wire an engine, or even believe it would cost $1200 to have it done, you have no business with a motor swap.

I have an h22 turboed in my civic. I really enjoy the power and throttle response from it. For my swap it cost $1800 for a local engine w/tranny. I bought some axles from the junkyard ~$100 I also had an old wiring harness from a civic, so I modified it to work with the prelude engine. I'm sure the b series swap can be made to be a beast. I know the out of the box, my h-series swap ran a 13.6 @ 100 n/a.

I think it really should depend on you, but if you want my personal opinion, I'd go with the H22 hands down it can baul out torque like no other and I just got to drive a hatch with an H22 type-s set up that was turbo'd running 7 psi on stock internals and I'll just have to say, I'm scrapping my **** and getting an H22 myself. But the GSR is always a good idea too, they're both fun, but I guess it's really what you want I think they both can put out around the same horsepower but the H22 will give you more torque.
