I havent checked my valve lash since I did my mini me... but I cant hear it either... Only way I know that vtec is engaged is because my oil pressure drops a bit when it engages since vtec is a hydraulic system I watch my oil pressure gauge to see when it engages. I have an intake, edelbrock intake mani, headers and exhaust... My Y8 head is also ported and polished..
my check engine light is on but i think that is from my test pipe it was on b4 this problem i also have a problem with my speedometer it keeps going to zero and staying
If you have all that you should be able to hear VTEC....i mean with my d16z6 I just had a short ram intake and I could hear the crossover distinctly.
Get an LED, hook the positive up to the VTEC solenoid and the negative to ground......see if it lights up when VTEC is supposed to be engaged.

Its not nearly as noticeable as it is on a dual cam.
