EM1 traction bars. Final thread?
OK, after searching around HT for the past few weeks and running into many dead ends I realize I am running in circles. It looks like to run traction bars on my EM1 I am going to have to swap the lower control arms (LCA's). From the posts here on HT it seems there are many others in the same boat. Either they are not happy with what they have or they don't know what to buy. I hope this thread will be the end of all the indecision!!!???
I have contacted many companys that claim to make kits for an EM1, but when it comes down to it they are really for 96-00 civics with the cast LCA's. Some say just extend the traction bars an inch and others say swap the LCA's for DX LCA's. I know Full-Race (FR) makes or used to make a kit for an EM1, but when I pm'ed a vendor running a special on the FR bars he said they don't make a kit for an EM1. Now I know I am not crazy because I read a thread about someone using FR bars on an EM1 and they were binding because of the bad mounting location on the EM1 LCA's. So if they did make a kit I don't think I want them anyway.
Well tonight I talked to a friend from HT and he thinks if I swap my LCA's I will have to swap my shock forks and sway bar also. I have no problem with doing the swap I just want to be sure this is the right way/best way.
What I want to know is if anyone can give me a definate answer? Pictures or a list of what parts you used. Does it mater what LCA's you use (meaning DX, EX, HX etc..) If you are a vendor or an EM1 owner and have any info on this that would be great also. I would like to get a traction bar setup on my car in the next 2 weeks. I am really only looking at the 96-00 civic L-Con bars or FR bars.
Thanks in advance!!!
