Default Why does an LSD double the load on the axles??

Im checking out http://www.driveshaftshop.com and looking @ their stage 1 axles. Prob not what Im looking for, prob need a stage2, but I dont quite get this quote, if somebody can help me out.
"performance street/road racing
STAGE 1 AXLE $149.99.This axle has the 1117
billet housings and a induction heat treated solid bar. good for 200hp and most street cars.
HP rating is for a limited slip car. If you have an open differential please double your Hp for proper axle rating. Also keep in mind a big rim with a small side wall will raise the shock factor on the axle. When ordering axles take into consideration what you are doing with the car."

If i read this right, is it trying to tell us that LSD puts more stress on an axle?? The 200 hp rating was for lsd differential(which is what I have), if I had a stock differential (open), the hp rating would be 400 on these axles?? Is that right?? I always thought lsd puts less stress on an axle cause its distributing the power perfect 50/50?? Im confused. If this is true, that would explain why im snapping my axles so easily cause I have a quaife.

errrrnt... wrong answer.

"if you have an open diff, please double your HP for an acurate rating"

hence, no lsd, double your HP, then buy axel accordingly. so, us, with say 160 HP to the ground can buy 200 HP axels and be fine... an closed diff, say with 140 to the ground, needs to buy axels rated for 280.

joo need to go back to school..
