Default plexiglass instead of windows???

I got a couple of questions, first would it really be worth it if i plexiglassed my 2 rear windows and hatch window, would it actually take that much weight off. Second, can you tint or buy tinted plexiglass. And third if i have subs in the back would it blast out or make the bass worse then if i was to put regular windows in? thanks for all the help.

I would recommend it on a full strip car, but on a daily driver its not very usefull. You might shave off 10lbs but now you have some plastic windows that can scuff and be taken out so easy and quitely that you'll probably get you **** jacked right outfront your house and never know. IMO lexan windows = full race only. Also, yes they sell smoked lexan, it has a natural tint to it. Check home depot. - Darrell

Rear hatch glass is heavy as hell.

Downside:
It scratches, so a rear wiper is not a good idea.
No more rear defroster... so it'll fog up fairly quickly when moist.

Think about where you live before you smash your glass in.

This is like the third thread i've read on this. Yes you can tint it. second don't use plexiglass it shatters. Lexan 1/8in polycarbonate. street car bad idea. race car good idea.

What if you get into an accident, there not going to be able to break those windows, and neether are you. so its a REAL bad idea. not worth the trouble, not worth the risk.

haha, because you are going to climb out the rear quarter windows?

And they sell tinted plexiglass/lexan because my dad's window in the cab of his truck is made of it. I've 1/2 considered trying to make my own quarter panel windows out of it but i'd guess the weight savings wouldn't be worth the trouble for it.
