RTA Bushing and LCA replacement WRITE UP *without a press*
Ok so I had to do my rear trailing arm bushings and LCAS on my 88 crx, and I dont have a press to push the bushings out. I called some suspension shops and they wanted anywhere from 40-60 bucks to do it. I gave my control arms to my friend that is a technician at ferarri and their press was close to turning my control arms into a ball of foil. So this weekend I had a buddy come over and we tackled it without a press. And here is how........
LCA Bushing Replacement W/O a press
Step one: Take off LCAs (3 14mm bolts, chassis....shock.....wheel hub) Spray them down with some PB blaster or WD40
Step two: Put control arms in a vice and secure firmly like so:

Step three: Get an electric drill corded is better (battery will drain fast), and a 1" hole saw drill bit. Spray some WD40 or PB on the bit every once in a while to try and keep it somewhat cool.

Step four: Drill out rubber part of the bushing like so....

Step five: Now you should have something that looks like this....

Step six: Now you need to remove the old metal bushing sleeve, for this you will need a hacksaw, hammer and punch. First start off with the hacksaw and cut the bushing sleeve longways on the Inside Diameter trying not to cut too far into the actual LCA........Like so.....

NEXT......
Take the hammer and punch and hit the sleeve that is exposed in the middle of the LCA in the following places......

That should loosen the sleeve up, Next take the hammer and punch and knock the sleeve out like so........

It should end up like this
Sleeve...

Now you have taken out all of the OEM bushing take your ES bushings or whatever you are using and grease them up and press them in with the vice like so....

Put the new metal sleeve in that comes with your bushings and you are done, Now bolt up the LCAs unless you want to do the rear trailing arms....I am going to do a write up for that aswell. Hope this helps some people if not oh well I wasted my time writing this up

u can also get a ball joint press from autozone its just a big heavy duty c clamp and hold it in the vise then find a impact socket that will catch the metal sleeve of the bushing and still go though the control arm then put 24 inch breaker bar on and crank away. me and a buddy did a complete suspension makeover (bushings shocks springs sway bars ball joints tie rods etc) took us about a day at the most to do each car, surprisingly the ball joint press held up through both cars
Nice write up but you mae a mistake
on box type LCA you don't have to get the sleeve out from the LCA
take a look into the ENergy Suspension installation guide

PS: on box type LCA the sleeve keep the LCA stiff, if you remove it, the LCA sway
