what kind of set up are you running?what engine,b16a or b16a2? why i ask about the tranny? my friend race this guy with the same set up like him,but using the jdm tranny and he beat him by like 3 cars,then he race another guy with skunk2 cams,maninfold,valves and other goodies and beat him two cars,three times in a row

 

I had a 90-91 LS trans on my first B16 setup and it ran like ***** compared to when I installed the S1. The S1 is much quicker to accelerate with the lower gear.

 

Wont you be shifting out of vtec with an long ls tranny? It might be better for freeway driving though. I was thinking about an ls 5th gear for my trans just for the freeway.

 

but another thing im planning going turbo,so which one better for turbo s1 or ls

 

thats a controversial question. some people say the ls has longer gears which is better for turbo, others say y1 and that it doesnt really matter. My take is, it really wont make that much of a diff unless your putting down lots of hp. All depends on what you prefer also, personally id prefer the longer gears under boost.

 

if youre going for the boost then a ls tranny would be best, but try using a 4.4 final out of a s1 or somethin and a flywheel, that way you can spool a little faster, also will help acceleration.
