Purchasing nee Rad..need your advice please!
Hello all
,
I have a 93 civic Si with a built gsr motor. I have been running the dual core (delsol) rad for some time now however I'm looking to upgrade to an aluminum (aftermarket) rad. I will be lapping alot with this car, so my question is, should I consider picking up a full size(integra) rad or will the 1/2 sized rad be sufficient? What do you guys use?

this is just what you need:

i used it for a year in my B series powered H1 EG hatch; it was made for me by Howe Racing; it is a combination oil cooler and radiator; keeps the oil warm when it is cold out, and cool when it is hot out. i had the rad overbuilt to handle up to 400 hp; i wanted no chance of cooling probs, even in the worst circumstances....
now that i have swapped to a K series, i can't use this rad, due to the intake manifold/alternator interference with the rad.
rad fits perfectly into a EG; i suspect it would fit into many other body styles....
its in perfect shape; asking $300 for it....
never have to worry about oil temp/water temp related problems with this rad, ever!

I would go with a full width radiator (Integra) if possible. Racing my Civic with a H4 built oem 2 row & then a namebrand 'race' aluminum radiator did little to the temps. I even put in a full block off plate on the open side. This season, I added a single row Integra radiator. The car is running with cooler water temps so far - even taking into account the spring weather.
Todd's set up looks pretty cool, btw. I believe that it will help get the oil up to temp faster & keep it stable (not too hot) once there.
I am now adding a seperate oil cooler & a decent one costs $$!

I would consult with the expers over at C and R they will get you setup right on one of there off the shelf rads or they can do a custom one for you

Full size. We had some heat issues with a half size in a high comp B18. Might as well go large to be safe...

Im running a H4 built D16z6 motor, and im running a Full length Koyo radiator. IMO its over kill but it WILL keep the temps down, and hopefully will also lower the over all temp in all areas of the motors

my stock-length dual core works fine for lapping w/ a b18c1 but a full-length certainly wouldn't hurt anything. if you have the money, do it.

Agreed. I LOVE my C&R. Full core and also came with a SPAL electric fan which I spliced in the OEM connector. Fit and finish is top notch.

Thanks for your responses gentlemen. I think I'm going with a full sized rad.
civicrr, are you running just a stock "full" length intergra rad? or aftermarket?
Todd Reid, Im'd you

If you go with the oem/rebuilt one get the 91 teg rad it's the 2 row(I don't know about the other years), thats what I use at the track never a prob you can get them all over the place in TO, I don't remember exactly but its around $130can.
started with a 'oem' replacement to see how it worked with the idea of going fluidyne or C&R if needed. the 'oem' replacement worked so well, there was no need to spend the extra $$'s. the blink factor is a big fat zero but it works.
Plus, I bought a spare & still spent less than one fancy aluminum radiator.
yrmv - we are only running a H4 spec D16Z6, not a pumped up B18C..... Still, it will probably work just fine.
