Default HELP! tranny making sounds

Hi, i have a problem with the car

whenever the car is in gear the car would make little noises like scratchy ratty noisy, i am pretty sure it's coming out from the tranny

my question is, do i need a new tranny or is there something cheap i can replace it with so it doesn't make that sound anymore? it's very disturbing to hear the screeching sounds

The cost per bearing can range from $15 to $75, depending on what transmission you have and which bearing is getting ready to take a dirt nap.

Replacing the bearing yourself is an option, but I warn that you'll need certain tools to do this properly, and if it's a D-series tranny we're talking about, it gets a little more difficult.

Fill us in with some info on what tranny it is and the nature of the noise.

Yes the tranny only makes noise when it is in gear, when it is crusing on neutral the sound disappears

and yes it is a stock SI tranny, so I'm assuming it is rather difficult to do without the right tools?

it's hard to know unless you have someone look at it. could be tranny, clutch, release bearing, pressure plate, or any combination of these
