Tranny problem please help ?>?????
well i took my car to 2 different places , my tranny makes a scraping noise but when i clutch in it goes away , both places said my tranny is shot , i did a tranny flush myself still same problem , now if my tranny is shot , how come my gears dont grind at all they go in smooth,the tranny performs 100% is smooth and all gears are clean , but is a spiinig scraping noise in 1st and anywhere from 2k to 4 k ,im really loosing it i need to find out what this is can anybody help me .

sounds like 1st gear is shot. noise stops when clutch is in becase the gear isnt loaded anymore. time for tranny swap. I'd rather buy a used tranny for 300 and install in myself , and throw in a new clutch while its out. about 4 hr job. you can do it!!! Go for it!!
The noise is caused by the input bearing in the trans, if the noise went away when your pedal was out it would be the t/o bearing. When you push the pedal in the main shaft quits spinning and the input bearing quits spinning so the noise goes away. When this bearing goes bad it will not cause the gears to grind. Your trans is not shot all you will have to do is replace all of the main carrier bearings in the trans.
