I'm sorta surpised that you can't flat foot your friends bike for your height. I'm 5'11 and my knees actually have to bend when im flat footing my r6. You can try shaving down the seat of the bike. Most people just find something that is comfortable for them when the bike is at a standstill. Could be tipy toes or just using one leg. Lowering the bike should be your very last option, and it's not recommended either. Goodluck!
5'7''
If you're a light guy you should definately set up your suspension right away, it'll make it easier to touch the ground. I still have to do the *** slide a little to flat foot completely comfortably but the 600rr has a really wide seat.

check scareyh22's thread about seat shape, that might have something to do with it. i'm about 5'10 and i still have trouble COMPLETELY planting my feet mostly on kawis and suzukis and some hondas. even with the r6 that supposedly has a lower seat height than the r1... i can totally flat foot the r1, but can't exactly flat foot the r6.
Damn, I'm 5'7" and 160lbs. I'm a fairly lean guy with long legs I guess. I can flat foot (both feet) on my SV650S, my buddys CBR900RR(with wide seat), and I've ridden an '04 GSX-R1000 and don't remember having any problems...
im 5'6" and 155, i ride an 04 R1 its a big bike but i still come close to flat footing it, most of the time i just put more weight to one foot, but for the most part i never really put much thought in to having my touch flaT, I hav been ridin it for awhile too.
my old 1999 cbr 600 was just perfect

f4i is a great bike for beginner/intermediate, but once you get know it u can use like tool and be just as fast as some of the other 6's
just somethin about the f4I's make them best bike to learn on that wont ever leave u board unless u have some really big ambitions

I'm 6'2 and I weigh about 155 lbs.
I just got my first bike a few weeks ago and it's a little Ninja 250, I obviously am a little tall for it
It's still fun nonetheless.

Another "what should I buy" thread. YES!!!
Consider that you're likely going to have somewhat of a heel on your riding boots. I'm 5'9" and I can flatfoot my bike with boots on but not sneakers.

well 5'8" and i ride an 03 gsxr 600 and i can touch "ok" (more than the tips of my toes, but less than flat foot). and at first i thought the same, that i would end up dropping it, but i found out that if i just throw down my left foot when stopping and keep the other on the peg that i can get more of my foot down and be more comfortable. It sucks though that God gave me short legs...
P.S.: so youre thinking about getting a bike to gus? i guess you have caught the bug too...

I'm like 5'5 -5'6 (closer to 5'5). When I first got my svs I was worried about that too, so I had the seat shaved and I can flat foot my svs. On the RC I just utilize the "one cheak sneek" just slide my *** over to the left side and use one foot. It's really not that big of a deal.
5'7 and no problems with my kawi 636 with stock height. Besides you only need to have one foot down, but if you don't feel comfortable shave the seat lower the bike and wear boots.
