Default Detatchable Exhaust.....

I can't seem to find the post where the guy was selling his SS, polished, 3", detatchable exhaust, but has anyone fab'd one of these up and what kind of clamps are most commonly used? PICS?

Not much more to talk about really. The concept is pretty simple. The next downpipe I make will definitely be v-band. Do a search on google images for v-band clamp and you'll see all sorts of examples.

Yeah I am familiar w/ the v-band clamp, my sc61 has it for the dp. I would just like to see some complete exhausts done w/ it and possibly some likes/dislikes.

I bought some CNC V-band flanges on Ebay, and am a bit confused on how I am supposed to use them. Both are really thick 304 steel, too thick to really get a good weld on I think.

One of the flanges is straight on the inside and has an I.D. of 2.5" so that it is a slip fit over 2.5" tubing. The other flange is the same minimum I.D., but is tapered toward the V-band side of the flange.

Now, I think I can tack weld the non-tapered flange to the pipe, then flare the other pipe to sit inside the taper and press against the other pipe? But this would negate the point of having a machined flange.

slip fit > Vband for exhuast IMO at least after the DP/Collector meets the rest of the exhuast. I used a Vband on my collector but slip fit the rest of the exhuast

You can get Vband assemblies form http://www.burnsstainless.com
