Fixin up the car?
Hey everyone,
I'm new to this forumn and the whole idea of fixing up the civic to make it better and I had a few questions on whether it would even be worth it, first one was my car currently has about 198,000 miles on it, and it is a 94 civic DX coupe, I was wondering if I should bother with all of this work and money or will my car just die on me and it will all be a waste, second is if this were to be done my first thought of making it better were new wheels so I was wondering if 17x7.5 Falken Hanabi's with Falken Grb Fk451s would be a good start?

Naw dude you never get 17's for a civic... 15-16's are good enough and as for your motor, honda motors are only good up until like 250k miles I believe so go ahead and drive the **** outta that motor and get a feel for your car. Once that motor goes, go ahead and drop a motor in there if you want that is... Fixing up a car to most people isn't just a hobby, it's a passion so this whole "fixing up" car thing kinda has to just grow on you...

Duuuuuuude get whatever you like. Don't let these ******* sheep tell you what is "supposed" to be on your car or what is "good enough". Also I never knew Honda motors had an expiration date. My brother's old beater had well over 250K on the clock and still ran like a charm. Original motor.
BTW 17's on a Civic look good so go for it

yea 17's look pretty good on a civic.. and if you plan on keeping that motor for a while you might want to have a diagnostic test done to it just to make sure everything is running ok..
umm.... 17s will be way to heavy for a civic... there is too much rotation inertia on 17s... 14-15 good for speed and 15-16 are good for speed/show... 17 is good for show car, but to big for racing
as for the motor... my bro has a crx with 300,000 and it still runs good

I just sold my CRX with 259k miles. Ran like a champ with no problems at all! If you drive normal and do normal tune-ups, your car should run for a long time. It doesn't matter how many miles are on the motor, it matters how you treat the motor. You see some **** with low *** miles and their engines blow the next day. Then you see an old fart with 300k miles on his original motor running fine. It's all up to you how long your motor lasts

Are 17's too big for an RSX? How about for an EM2? Honda doesn't think so since they come stock w/ 17's. I don't see what a car being a Civic has to do w/ what wheels you can or can't have. Also a blanket statement that 17's are too big" is wrong b/c there are some very light 17's just like there are heavy 15's. Also he never said he was building a race car. It's more than likely just going to be his daily driver and he just wants it too look good. In closing all I have to say is BAH BAH, BAH BAH.

Yeah well thnx for the welcome, like I did not tell you before this car never has had any major problems, and has been oil changed and pretty much cared for pretty well, I do pretty much want it to look good and showy since it will be my everyday car, but still want it to have a lil go to it as well for some fun, but I dunno, maybe later on I will be a lil more serious into racing and all that but for now just everyday stuff. I can get those wheels in 15's but what are some good tires for everyday use in dry or rainy conditions but are still speed worthy?
