My civic is using oil like crazy. It started shortly after using lucas oil addidtive and has progressively gotten worse!

The engine has 167,000 miles on it. Before I go to tear it apart and put in new rings and valve seals I am considering going the route of Sea Foam, thinking that maybe the lucas just sludged up my engine.

The thing is it has 167,000 miles, and although it received a new head gasket at about 140,000 miles I am curious if this could make things worse or if it will accomplish what I am hoping.

Any opinions would be great, also any other recommendations would be fine too.

 

Lucas was a BAD thing to add. Its a horrible additive. Seafoam is pretty good, but with that high milage i wouldnt add anything to your crankcase.

 

Well I wasn't going to put sea foam in my crank case, I was going to put it through the intake and into the combustion chamber.

 

That will clean out the carbon and probably help it run better, but I dont think its going to help you losing oil.
