Default Did I damage my valves?

I screwed up my mini-me (complete noob that I am) D16Z6 on D16A6... I was using a 106 tooth timing belt, and I think I must need the Z6 104 tooth. But anyway, timing jumped off when I tried to start it, and pistons and valves hit. I pulled off the head and I can see some valve dents on the pistons.

How do I know if I damaged my valves? They look OK, I can see a little mark where the carbon got scraped off, but otherwise they seem fine.

Is there anyway to check the valves before I put the head back on?

And I am correct thinking I need a D16Z6 104 tooth belt?

Will I need to get all new gaskets again as well? It only ran for a few seconds!

I can post photos tonight.

Thanks!

What you can do is pull the cam out of the head, put the head on it's side and fill up the intake or exhaust side of the head where you think you bent the valves with water and if it leaks then yes they are bent. Or just take it to a machine shop and have them check it for you.

Why do I need to pull the cam? Can I just rotate it for each cylinder?

Thanks... Checked it out this weekend. Two intake valves on cylinder # 4 leaked through the vavle, and one leaked into the head. I assume the one leaking into the head means the valve seal is gone. Too bad.

Now the question is.... Rebuild the head or just buy a new one. I've been quoted 250 for a 3 angle valve job and new valve seals. Does this sounds reasonable?

The head has ~120K. Maybe I should just get a lower mileage Y8 head? What do you guys think??

I guess I could just go get a valve job on my original head. She burnt a valve, and I though as long I was pulling off the head I could just do a mini-me.... But you think its a waste? Why?

The only extra stuff I think I need is the FPR, a ECU mod, and a different timing belt. I guess thats a bit of money though... I just want her running well again!

$250 for a valve job is a pretty good deal as long as it is a reputable shop. If I were you I would just go ahead and finish up with the project. Don't give up its always a great feeling to complete a build.

The quote was from SportCar motion in Vista. Are they good? I would rather find a place closer to home though...
