ok this occured like once a day a week ago, now it happens everytime i go.. it starts to go then it makes a bunch of popping sounds.. i took apart the muffler and it wasnt clogged.. i talked to a mechanic down the street and he said that it was probably my carb.. he said he would clean it out for $100. could this noise be my carb??? the car is also getting fuel.. what to do

 

mmmmm..what year and model do you have???? it is hard for us to properly diagnose noises over the internet ,,does it pop at idle?? when you accellerate?? i have seen timing be way off and make it sound like it pops from carb ,,but be leary $100 to clean your carb????
mmm,,,ask him exactly what he is going to do for $100 ...???if you got carb issues you might as well spend the money and have it properly overhauled cause if not done properly you will have future issues

 

its an 88 accord.. it doesnt pop at idle just when u rev it.. he is going to clean out the fuel bowl and all around the carbaurator. he said he's been a mechanic for 20 years. when it gets over 3000 rpms is stops as long as u press on the gas

 

have him double chk your timing as well , if t-belt jumped it will pop through carburator
