yes yes...another crappy idle problem
i bought my crx a while ago and its been sitting in my garage for almost a year. i start it once in a while and it already had this problem when i bought it. It idles from 1000 rpms to 1500 rpms and keeps bouncing up and down and up and down...yeah you get the picture. well i checked the thottle body cable and i took the intake system off. If i plug the hole going to the iacv then the idle sits at 500 and stays there. If i unplug the hole the the problem comes back. The hole sucks air is this normal?? and some one help me. this problem is a PITA!!! Oh and it has an original D15b6(HF Motor) so it doesnt have a FITV. I already tried carb cleaner between the IACV and the place where its supposed to be and between the thottle body and the intake manifold.
That is called a vacuum leak. It will do that when the vac hoses are not connected. So if you don't have a connection that has to go to that vac port (although I think you should, but not sure on the HF) then plug it up. You will be straight afterthat.

This is definitely a vac leak. I didn't know a bad TPS can cause these exact symptoms, but then again I never had a bad TPS.

which vacuum hose are you talking about?? there is only two coolant hoses that go to the iacv. feel free to correct me if im wrong.
ok how do you replace your tps sensor?? i spent all afternoon trying to find my vacuum leak but i didnt find it. and how do you bleed your coolant?

ok most of the time you will think it is the tps or even the iacv when it is the ahhhh i cant rember the name of the friggen thing but on the back of the plentum ie intake manafold there is a small plate held on by two 8mm screws kinda round with two tabs on it take the top screw out and loosen the bottom screw up enough for the little plate to swing out of the way ok on the inside there is a rount nipple looking thing with a ring arround it press in the nipple and turn the ring till it tightens up you will see it mooving in then try to start it if it does it still check your fluid level you mite have to bleed out the antifreez and that is what the bleeder valve is for on the top neck on the head and if that dont work let it run till you get a code
no...its not that thing...my crx doesnt have it. i've tried just about everything, bleeding coolant, and cleaning the iacv, uhh...cleaning the throttle body...im stumped...and i cant get the dam tps sensor off.
Have you set the base idle? If not:
Warm the engine up to operating temperature.
Disconnect the IACV electrical connector.
Using the idle spped screw(above and rear of TB opening) set the idle to 700-750 RPM. Backing out the screw = speed increase. If it has never been ajusted the wax plug may still be covering the idle adjustments screw. Dig out the wax and expose the flat blade idle speed control screw.
Reconnect the IACV and if the base idle was the problem it should "fix" the problem.
