Are drag radials safe enough for daily driving?
I would like to know if drag radials are safe enough to be daily driven? I've personally never used them before and would also like to know how long they'd last being daily driven. Do these have to be burned-out and warmed up like slicks to get full traction?
People with experience with these please chime in with their opinions.

It's all good,
Must DR's be warmed up like slicks? I'm unaware of the way they should be used and their intentions.

We've had excellent feedback about the Dunlop SP Sport Inferno drag radial recently. These are DOT legal, but I'm not 100% sure what the UTQG ratings (ie: treadwear) are. As an engineer, looking at the pattern, I wouldn't personally be worried about running them in the rain or on the street. For max traction @ the track, a small burnout is in order. On the street...well, that's just showing off

I'm in the process of trying to convince the people in Dunlop's racing group to give me a set of 205/50R15's to demo @ our local 1/4 mile track. If I can pull that off (next month or so)...I'll mount them on my 2000 Si and drive them to and from the track (2hrs round trip) and report back on how I like them. Plus, if I demo them I should have plenty of feedback from others about how they do on the track.
The 205/50R15 is going for about $115 right now, fyi.
I'll keep you posted if I get to drive them...

My first thought when i saw his post was "who is this noob and how does he know so much about tires???".... then i saw the sig.
Might wanna change the avatar tho
EDIT: I've seen him post up elsewhere too in the forums... decent advice! This guy knows his stuff fairly decently.

Haha...thanks man! I'm working on a more Dunlop-centric Avatar, hopefully soon.
Yeah, I've been an engineer here for ~3 years total now. Plus, I'm secretly in love with tires...wierd I know, but I enjoy it. I like reading about everyone's opinions on other tires too, so after they created this forum I decided to sign up.
There is so much mis-information being spread about tires. They're much more complicated than they look, and my goal is to help clear some things up for everyone here.
Keep the questions coming
