Need help with T3/T04E size very urgent!
Hallo,
today my old turbo blown on the highway and i have to buy a new one very urgent.
in the last weeks i looked very much what i need to make aprox. 400-450 WHP
i want to take a T3/T04E Turbo 57 trim, 0.60 AR Compressor and 0.63 AR Turbine but
what size of turbine wheel would you prefer? Stage3 or Stage5?
its on a B16A1 Engine... where are the differences between the two turbine wheels? (Spool up time, flow etc.)
Thanks
Malte.

a stage3 turbine wheel would be enough on a very efficient Vtec head, it'd also give you a broader powerband. A stage5 would be more efficient overall, this would come at the cost of a couple of rpm in spooling though

He doesn't need a 625-650 WHP turbo if he wants to make 450 WHP.

Thanks for the info... but why would a Stage5 give me a later spool up and smaller power band when it is more effective?! there i have a little understanding problem... is the stage 5 bigger/havier then the stage3?, then it would make sense to me.
am i right with this statements?:
- stage3 wheel = smaller then stage5 wheel
- stage5 wheel needs more airflow, therefor smaller powerband and later spool up
- if you have high boost application a stage5 would be better because of the higher flow?!
Thanks
Malte.

the stage 5 will spool slower all things being equal because it's a bigger wheel, it'll also generate less backpressure so in the end you have a turbine wheel that will produce more hp at the same boost level but will spool up a bit slower.
The GT40 compressor wheel found in the SC/PT61's and the GT35R's are rated at 680hp, you cant get that with a small wheel/turbine housing combo due to backpressure though. a Stage 5 on a .63 would kick *** though.

go with what killa says- he knows his ****.
im also gonna say the stage 3 wheel with the .63 will be enough to get you to 400 hp. im gonna take this same turbo to about 400 hp on my ls after i blow up my current motor, probably in a few months
