Default We got the motor in!

Well... we installed the throttle body and fuel rail while the motor was out. Did a little spot cleaning before we did the harness work, then got the dizzy wired up. Had the radiator and condenser out while we did the swap... had a new radiator for it anyway. Left the intake elsewhere so that's not on there yet. The passenger axle put up a bit of a fight, but I proved the greater between the two of us.

Anyway... here are the pics.

SSAutoChrome header bolted right up... no problems with the exhaust ports.

She's sitting low again. That makes me happy.

You can sort of see the AEM fuel rail, and the TB is hard to see anyway. Had to use an LT-1 TB blade to make that thing work.

Well, I'm pretty damned excited.

Yeah... that's next. So sick of cleaning. Cleaning the interior SUCKED... and it still smells funny.

Woohoo, nice swap. What motor was previously in the car? Im sure you'll be happy with the DOHCZC, fun little motor to play around with. And it looks like you still have PS! You bastard! Aw well, atleast these cars aren't heavy enough for PS to be a necessity. Did you take the time to change the TBELT/Waterpump/ect. ect.? Well, have fun and more pics of that clean *** looking exterior. - Darrell

HMotorsOnline.com

They treated me pretty well. Still need to start the car, tho... that happens tomorrow. I was just really glad we were able to save the power steering. Seems I got REALLY lucky.

Oh, and for the other questions...

The wiring was very easy. The car was already MPFI so there were no problems.

I changed the timing belt and water pump... and all the other belts. I just couldn't put it in until all of that was done.

And is that JDM cluster KPH (which I KNOW it is)?

Well, it became street legal yesterday. I had to drive the car for about thirty miles with no intake on it (I took it off so I wouldn't have to clutter everything up) and it ran like HELL. Black smoke, poor throttle response... but when I put the intake on everything cleared right up.

Couldn't use the throttle body; the LT-1 TB blade I used was a tad to small and let too much air through. When you cut the car on it idled at about 4500 RPMs and in my thinking, that's bad. So I just put the stock one back on until I get a new blade made.

The only thing that doesn't work is the right hand side turn signal indicator on the cluster. That'll take ten minutes to fix once I find the bulbs. Not bad for a car that sat for a year and a half.

Power steering WORKS! And I didn't have to take the timing belt cover off. WHch brings up a question... how the hell did my OLD ZC not clear this hood (P/S pump OR timing belt cover) when this one clears just fine?

Oh well... I'm very happy.

To be 100% honest... it pulls only slightly harder. More responsive on the throttle, and that means a lot to me. I'm a big fan of the D16A6, but I really like the ZC.

only one thing i like about the DOHC ZC and B18a, it looks like it belongs there from factory. i just like the valve covers and bumps.

when i see other people with Bvtec or H22s in there EFs it doesnt look like it should be there, doesnt look stock like the B18A and D16A8/9. but i still prefer the power of my B16.
