very very weird noise...
okay, first off i drive a 95 accord ex. not sure if thats relevant info or not, but lately, i have been hearing a very strange noise. It starts after a few minutes from when i start driving and it only happens when i seem to press the brakes. i took the car to the shop, and i got new brakes, brake pads and all. The noise stopped for about a day, then the next day, the noise came back. The noise is like a clunking noise that keeps going off, or something. It's hard to explain what kind of noise. It only happens when im slightly braking, but it gets VERY loud when im at stop lights. My dad thinks it might be the transmission. NE ideas at all?
hard to tell what your problem is since its hard for you to be specific. i would suggest taking it to a parking lot, and from about 25mph, put it in neutral, shut off the engine, and then slowly and gradually depress the break pedal until youre stopped. if theres still a noise, its not from your transmission or engine. if there isn't, then... well youve narrowed your problem down, but i dont want to try to get specific and be wrong. anyone else out there who knows more than me? haha..
Just going on a whim here, but a loud clunk makes me think suspension. Another possibility is bad engine mounts, but that usually happens when accelerating.
I'm also assuming its an automatic?

when you say it gets very loud at a stop lite do you mean while you are totally stopped and engine idling???? if so it is not your suspension or brakes or motor mounts because engine is still and nothing is shifting
just engine rotating ,,does noise come and go at stop lite or does it stay there continuosily??

not a bad guess, and yes it is a auto. the noise constantly happens when im at a stop light, i guess it is idling.
no, the sound doesnt happen when the engine is shut off. Like if im parked and i shut off the engine, the noise doesnt come up when i press the brake.
and where exactly is the resonator exhaust pipe? im not too much of a self-do it yourself guy so im not too sure where everything is. where is the heat plates? This might require me to bring out a hand book.

pim you are contradicting yourself at the top you said ( it only happens when i seem to press the brakes )) now ( the noise does not come up when i press the brakes ..
ok so it does it at idle does it get louder if you rev engine up?? if you hit the accell and let go quickly do you hear a rattling noise from under car??? or is it more from toward frt of car??

Start from the back you’ll see the muffler, then after that, the resonator pipe (cost 100 dollars including bolts, springs and special bolts). On my car heard a loud sound coming from my old pipe because it had a hole in it. A couple weeks later it broke off.
The heat plates should be right above your exhaust pipe. When I got my muffler welded on the mechanic put clamp on the heat plates on my cat converter, that’ll stop the noise for a while.
yo business there is a bulletin for what you talking about kit includes springs, cone gasket and bolts but that noise can be heard at around 1800 rpm hold the accell pedal at 1800-200 and you can definatelly would hear the rattling noise
