Default An expensive day for the Shultz family

My Mom and I are doing everything we can to help the US Economy. At this rate we're sure to start creating jobs for some of our members who are currently unemployed. Maybe like being our lawyer when we both file for bankruptcy.

I picked up my trailer today. It's a 3 year old open deck job with a lot of nice extra touches. One, it's got a tire rack. Two, it's got 3500# axles with brakes on both. Three, it's in good shape, and finally...it was cheap at $1200.

Mom on the other hand spent quite a lot more money than I did, but got something a whole lot more fun...

Here's a shot of the trailer's trailer jack. Previous owner upgraded it to a wheeled one - you can actually move it around by yourself, making hooking it up a lot easier

This is the tire rack. It makes so much sense I don't know why more people don't do this. Lockable too. This way I don't have to ghetto up my Suburban...

The trailer from the rear. Including its new taillight assemblies and the spare tire.

Mom's new toy. If I didn't have a payment on the tow vehicle...and this wheel to wheel racing thing going on...I'd have bought one on the spot last weekend when we looked at them first. She's going to start autocrossing occasionally, and I get to co-drive it when it's there.

The Spyder behind her 95 GS-R. When money allows I plan to buy this GS-R as a daily driver. 90K miles, with all the loving care that my car has gotten...minus the abuse on the weekends.

Another shot...

I remember seeing one of those in person, that blue is awesome. I'll bet it's a fun car! Trailer looks sweet too, you'll get a lot of mileage out of it!

Dude... I'm mentally giving your mom a high-five. That blue is hella tite. Seriously, I dig it and you know what car I drive

Yoda's thoughts on the tire rack:
Work of the Jedi, this must be! Simple, yet effective, yes. Ghettoize your 'Burban, you do not!

Yoda's thoughts on trailer:
Two axles, yeeees! Brakes on each! You have learned well, OG Wun Stunna. Mmm, wonderful puller of Podracer this is, yes! Your Jedi training is not complete, you they call "Money". Now you must learn the skillz of Yoo Goin Raycin. May the fizzorce be with j00!

Chris- really missing some sleep. a lot of it, in fact.

Now you don't have to borrow a trailer when your car breaks.

God, I'm gonna pay for that one.

Nope, plain old five speed. Mom asked me about the sequential. So I asked a nat'l level autocrosser I know who has one about the seq. trans, and he said .

Mom's kind of unusual - she's kind of a "car guy" so I guess there's something to heredity. She had a 67 Firebird, the GS-R, , and a Maxima SE among other interesting cars. She's been wanting a Miata for a while now but saw the Spyder one day and decided she liked it better.

Any specific reason why the sequential isn't as good? I just heard of it a few days ago and it sounded great to me(especially since the tranny is a manual tranny, just no need to manually engage/disengage the cluth).

Rice-

You should of had your mom buy Dan Ecclestone's Spyder (he traded it a few weeks ago on a WRX). Dan had just finished setting it up like Eric Peterson's (same front bar, trailer hitch, etc) and had spare wheels for stickies...

Your mom seems pretty cool (not the one that was scratching at my back door last night), make her come out to the Tarheel Meetings.

Oh well.

Actually I brought this up. She is very much against another red car. The red paint on her GS-R...pretty much looks like hell. Very disappointing.

If I were getting the car for myself, *I* should have bought Dan's Spyder. While his is a better autocross car...autocross just isn't a priority for her like it would be for me. She bought it because it's fun, she's always wanted a convertible, and she liked the way it looked.

Oh that's nice. This from somebody who can't keep an engine in his for more than a season without it turning into a mobile meat smoker...

Interesting that you refer to it as a smoker.
Just try not to inhale as I go by.

Scott, who's rear main seal isn't leaking.
