Better then an MSD? PROS/CONS?? Likes/Dislikes??

 

The aem would really be a waste of money unless you go direct fire or coil on plug.If you plan on just using it as an ignition amplifier I would save the money and just go msd but if you have the ems then coil on plug is great

 

I do have the EMS. That's why I was considering getting the CDi even though I already have the MSD. Wanted to know if anyone was running the EMS w/CDi or EMS w/MSD. Is it a waste of money? Should I just keep the MSD and run that. Also I plan on running some 350+ HP.

The AEM C2DI is a great ignition box and has higher output specs than the MSD SCI box does.. If you have an AEM EMS then going to coil on plug would be the best option with the C2DI but either way the C2DI would make a difference..

 

I would not invest the money unless you are running into limitations/problems with the stock ignition.

Almost all hopped up cars have ignition problems, its just most people come up with creative ways around them..

 

When I ran a msd with my ems I have all types of problems. I tried with 3 different msd boxes and same problem. I switched to the C2DI and did a C.O.P conversion using honda cbr coil sticks. All my ignition problems went away. I've been running this setup for over a year now. I dont like MSD ignitions boxes because of all the problems I have with them. Since you have the MSD give it a try and see if you have any problems. Some people on here has had luck using the MSD. If you running into to problems with the msd you can go with the c2di. Just my .02

 

I ran a MSD SCI for a while before I upgraded to the AEM C2DI box.. COP is great and allows the coils more time to charge between firing..

 

Thanks, since I am redueing my setup, I might look into it. What do I need in order to switch to a C.O.P. set up? Any pics on how it looks.

 

Ill get you some pics.. But youll need 4 Honda CBR 929 or 954 coils with the harness.. You then just hook them up to the C2DI unit, change some parameters in the AEM EMS and your off..

If I end up doing this setup, I wouldn't need the MSD Blaster coil either, right? Just the CDi with four CBR coils. Also were could I buy a new cap for my ignition. I guess I would need a blank one.

 

You just use whatever cap you have now since its not going to have anything connected to it..

 

Talk to Wadzii, hes tuned plenty of 400+ hp cars with totally stock ignitions. Its pretty common.

Most of the ones that I do die out at about 420whp or so..

And since it soo cheap to upgrade the ignition, why not do it..

 

I ran a msd box for years (same box MSD 6A) and never had a issue..but when I went to aem ems I started having problems with the stock distributor so I went C.O.P. and DIS and love it!!! Iam running 4 CBR 600F4i coils with the C2DI..

Your running 4 CBR 600 F4i. Is there a difference between using those coils as compared to using the coils off the CBR 954 or 929?? Where are most of you guys buying the coils. Your local bike shop? Also about how much do the coils run?

 

Different model ignition sticks have different heights, most people that I have heard and seem use CBR 929, and 954 on B-series because they fit perfect. I bought my 954s off ebay for $75 shipped with the harness, but any bike salvage yard should have them.

 

600 f4i, 954 and 929 = same ****.

 

i got my coil sticks and harness from ebay. you can go to your local honda motorcycle dealership and pic some up new.

 

You can almost allways find them on ebay for good prices, I saw a set + plugs go for $30 last week. just search for : "cbr* coil*" and you shal find them

 

the stock dizzy/ignition is hit or miss.. the **** has to be in perfect shape to work well with the ems. the ems does not tolerate anything in the system being "shitty"

i have done alot of high hp cars with the stock ign, right down to the stock coil, others wouldnt make 300hp on the stock ****.

 

how did your dis set up? I noticed that your dizzy is not there. I want to do the same set up with out the dizzy.
