Default Nitrous = Forced Induction

I keep noticing that people here dont consider nitrous as forced induction. wtf's up with that?

comments welcome.

Well "forced" induction implies that work is done to the air to get it into the cylinders. So when the exhaust gas goes through a turbo housing, spinning the turbine, and putting force on the intake charge work is done. In an SC application, the engine spins, moves a belt attached to the SC pulley, spins the supercharger turbine, and forces air into the cylinders. Now with nitrous no work is done to the intake charge, so it isn't a "Forced" induction system. Instead we chemically give the intake charge a higher percent of oxygen. Think of nitrous as "Smart" induction.

What part of a nitrous system makes the engine not naturally aspirated?
What part of a nitrous system is forced induction?

Think about it

I don't know what idiots keep thinking Nitrous is Forced Induction.

You must be referring to the thread about "Low compression motor" or something.. just to use Nitrous is pure idiocy.

Nitrous falls into the weird category of U/A. "Unaturally Aspirated"

You're Naturally Aspirated when you're not using Nitrous, and then you're just adding elements to either your fuel or air intake to change the way the motor is running. That's all. Nothing about a Nitrous system "Forces" anything into your motor. Only "Adding."

Period.

Would you care to clarify this statement, or at least back it up with some facts?

What do I have to back-up? That's the fact, Mr. Know It All.

Lowering compression on a vtec motor just to use Nitrous is pure idiocy, what's to be proved there? So you would want to go from a stock average whp of 160, then lower compression, laying down something like 110 if not lower.. just so you can spray a 150 shot when you need it. Yeah that's a good idea.

Please read the part of your post that I quoted in my previous reply. If you reread your post you'll realize that you didn't address my question.

Most Turbo guys arent going to respect nitrous because of its cost, and how easy it is to use. It also might **** them off that the people running nitrous can kick their ***. Ok, it depends on how much boost to how big of a shot, but a 75 shot of nitrous will kill most Turbo guys running less than 7psi of boost. Its fine if you dont respect it, but I will be using it, and will be happy to show you just how potent it can be. Use what you want, just remember to kill the enemy.

The way this is written it looks like you typed two sentences. The second sentence says that "Just to use nitrous is pure idiocy." Now I completely agree that lowering an engine's compression, in order to run a large shot of nitrous, is not a smart thing to do on a street car. However, I want to know why you think that using nitrous is pure idiocy.

I want to know to! I can understand why people use Turbo and Superchargers, power all the time, but why is using nitrous pure idiocy?

Diversion, i'd appreciate your response, but not your name-calling. no matter what the answer is, where do you get off talking like you're mr. know-it-all? and i dont even know what thread youre talking about. all im saying is that since i can remember, everyone ive talked to has considered nitrous, forced induction. but i must be wrong, since we all know that you couldnt possibly be.

*rolls eyes*

ps, youve got a dc sports lower swaybar? thats funny. i dont know why idiots think that lower tie bars are sway bars, especially since they are two completely different things.

I never said running nitrous is pure idiocy, lowering a car's compression just to run nitrous every now and then is a bad idea. Yes, I can see why that looked like two sentences, but it's not.

Yeah that's a mis-type, oh the ***** well. Don't cry about it now. Obviously I should know the difference between a sway bar and a tie bar, I seem to know a lot about my motor, but nothing about tie bars, or so you think cause I typed "Sway bar" on my profile.

I get off where I need to be, and it's in anybody's face that acts like I don't know what i'm talking about. It's great to put up an honest challenge, but don't sit there and act like so and so knows everything. And i'm not saying I do, but the attitudes on this board need to go.

Man, atleast I know now who to call out and who not to.

Jay

the sway bar comment was just to drop down to your level. you made the idiot comment before i ever questioned your knowledge or said you didnt know what you were talking about.

you say the attitudes on this board need to go, but you brought the bad attitude to the thread.

wow, so im the right kind of person to call out? give me a break

lets just drop the flame from the thread so it doesnt lose its purpose. IM me if you want to argue.

peace
