Default Swap Time

Ok so here is my delima...

I'm thinking about doin the MPFI swap on my DX, so I searched and got my list of materials and procedure but I noticed one thing...

I am going to need the intake mani, ecu, dizzy, ect. ect. Why dont I just drop a whole A6 swap in?

So my question to all you guys is: What would be easiest? do all the crap for a MPFI conversion, or just swap out the DX motor for the Si motor? What is involved with the A6 swap? is it just a swap of the motor and ECU or is there more involved with it?

You'll need to perform the mpfi wiring conversion in order to swap the d16a6. People do the mpfi swap on the d15 because it is cheap.

Well here is the thing...why would I have to do all the wiring for MPFI if I have the motor and harness and everything (complete A6 swap) wouldnt I drop the new motor in and plug the harness to the ECU and call it a day?

i had the same dilema, and decided to just go with a complete Si swap.

So what was involved with the A6 swap? Pretty cut and dry? Alot of work?

What kind of improvments did you notice afterwards?

The d16a6 (Si) harness does not correctly correspond to the dx interior harness at the shock tower. If you swap out the interior harness then you can use the Si harness.

Ok so your saying there is a harness that connects from the ECU to the engine bay, and then the engine harness plugs into that?

Yes there is an interior wiring harness as well as an engine harness.

To correct it you just need to change some wire locations at the ecu. The Si harness physically plugs into the interior (dx) harness, it is just that the pin locations are different. The easiest way would be to modify your existing harness.

Sweet, that wouldnt be as hard as modifying all that other crap to do just the MPFI conversion.

havent done it yet. just bought the motor/turbo setup yesterday. both need complete rebuilds, as the a6 was leaking oil when it was pulled out of my buddies Si. just needs a rebuild, plus it getting 20psi+ of boost after some tough work, so its gotta be completely rebuilt ANYWAY.

far as i know (still looking and preping myself), need new mounts (dont need, but its a good idea), ECU (p28), i'm doing obd-1 conversion as well. i'm not 100% if i've got everything, but it wont be ready to go in for another month or more anyway, so its not a big deal.

from what i've heard, its realitivly easy. someone on here did it in 3 hrs in his drive way
