Debating on what motor i should put in.....
What's up to everyone at H.T
Im a n00b here so yeah, spare me lol
I recently got a 89' honda CRX from a friend of mine for $300,
when i first got it, it ran like **** to be honest
so on my spare time i did a few things, one of my problems were
when i start up the car and throw it into drive [yes its automatic
]
the car suddenly cutts off....so when i popped the hood and looked carefully
i noticed that one of those small hoses going to the MAP sensor have been torn off
so i went to a local junk yard and get a set of hoses, and when i got home i replaced them.....when i was done with everything it started up fine, and it actually drove good [for a POS TBI engine] w/ no check engine light...so i got that out of the way.......right now the car is sitting infront of my house, i have stripped out everything inside of the car and cleaned what was under the carpets, what i have now in my crx is just the 2 seats [which i plan on changing soon] , the dash, and and the steering wheel, i removed my radio and i plann on mounting my gauges where my radio used to be [ boost, a/f, volt, etc] I plan on taking the car to a local body shop to repair the rust on the rear qtr panels, since its in bad shape and i cant do body work for ****.... while the body work is underway, i was debating with a friend of mind on which motor shoud i drop in? I've seen guys on here with h22a-T CRX's .......i plan on doing the same, if it can happen.....but im not really sure because a setup like that would mostly be for straight line....and the car would understeer ALOT...... Im here for open opinions.....since im new to this honda scene , any help from you guys would be great .......thanks alot guys!
what motor should i put in?
-B16a1?
-B18c1?
-B18b1-T [block with a b18c1 head]
-H22a

if youve never swapped before might be a good idea to start with something like a d16a6 swap and auto to manual conversion.
get you started off on the right foot. (pun)
if you can afford a b16a it really is a lot of fun, thats what i currently have in the rex. it will run you about 2300-2500 to get it into the car with all the stuff you need.

depends how much money u wanna spend, if u wanna go all motor or not. a great all motor engine is ls vtec. b16a a good starting engine if u dont have a ton of money to spend
Yeah a friend of mine has a single cam Vtec turbo.....that thing was quick for a single cam.........but yeah I do plan on doing the auto-to-manual conversion, when the warm weather hits......and money isnt an issue.......im pretty sure i can get the B18c1, in order to drop that in do i have to do any welding, banging, cutting???
and i do plan on tuboing the b**ch[t3/t4]...... im going to have pics of my CRX
posted soon and show u guys what my $300 CRX looks like...
And another thing.....the ls/V[turbo] doesnt sound like a bad idea either......and ive heard that the LS block is good for a turbo application,
