Default Who doesn't like the stock light output?

I recently purchased Sylvania Silverstars in hope of getting better light output from our terrible fluted lenses. They work, and they work well. However, I am still looking for a cleaner, sharper light--something like a projector setup or jeweled setup. Who has tried one of the aftermarket alternatives with any luck? Are there any good aftermarket headlight lenses for the Civic?

i think the stock EH/EG headlights are horrible. i've been tempted to change out my 9003/H4 bulb for some new stock ones; i'm not sold on these HID-lookalike bulbs.

if you really want better output, it seems like your best bet is the EG projectors with Audi/MB/etc projectors retrofitted into them.

I think my stock lights are fine...maybe the beam pattern isn't aligned correctly?

I recommend using street legal "30%" bulbs such as those by GE, Sylvania, and Philips.

Well at least you don't have super oxidized crappy healamp housings that make even the brightest non-HID bulbs look muted and dim.........******* 96-98 lamps suck so much *****.

I really enjoy my gf's 2000 Celica GTS headlights---they are projector style halogens. The light output is amazing--wide field, sharp cutoff, great dispersion. Our dated fluted design doesn't hold a candle to these. I am simply wondering if any aftermarket alternatives are worth it---I don't want to be retro'ing HIDs anytime soon.

Is there any more input on this subject?

I want to get a set of the EDM headlight housings. Reflectors are focused better, sharper cutoff, and all around brighter since the reflectors are so much better. I just can't seem to find them ANYWHERE.

My 2000 lights suck too. Much better with Silverstars, but still not as good as my girl's 7th gen light output. Much worse than alot of other cars I've driven.

I've heard the TYC projectors are the best and highest quality available; but I haven't found too much info on them, because most just start screaming 'rice!' 'not JDM y0!' when asking for any details on them.

you can take the casper sheild out. and also do a black housing that will help to center the light output in front of you. you can also get some fog/driving lights. Or buy my hids that have are inside jdm headlights

I recall a thread not too long about about the one piece TYC projector headlights. Had lots of useful pics to show how clear the cutoff and brightness was.

When I got my JDM headlights I noticed that the light output was much better compared to the US stock headlights.

You can get JDM headlights for about $100 now.

I got mine from Import Auto Salvage. Larry

No bulb will be beneficial. They will either look like crap, or blow-out sooner than later. I have Sylvania Cool Blue bulbs. They might be a bit brighter than stock but the color isn't yellow, it's a nice white.

If you want GREAT light output, grab a hold of this month's Honda Tuning. They have a How-To article on retrofitting HID's into the EG housings.
