Default which suspension for dd/autoX H&R, Progress or Ground control (did my homework)

well i actually made a post similar about a week ago but i did some research and learning and now i have i much better idea of what i want. i also went to my first autoX on sunday and after seeing one in person it is definately something i want to do. i have a 91 crx with a stock b16 for the most part it is a daily driver but like i said im hoping to start autoXing about once a month. so here are my choices:

SPRING RATE (F/R) DROP (F/R)
Progress B series springs 325/275 2.0/2.0
H&R sport 350/250 1.9/1.8
Ground control coilovers 400/300? .5-3.5

if i get the ground control they are a little more expensive so i was wondering if i rode lowered an inch for daily driving and then like two inches for AutoX if i would need a camber kit still. i figure with the lowering spring i will definately need a camber kit. remember im just a beginner with auto X so i probably don't need the BEST but i do want to find a decent balance of daily driving comfort and performance.

Because of this most people will tell you to leave it stock. You will improve at a much better rate if you go through at least your rookie season with your car as stock as possible.

If you absolutely must get new suspension. get the Ground controls. Once you start getting better at Auto-x you can change the spring rates to better accomidate your driving style. Most FWD people usually end up running the rear springs at a higher rate than the fronts by 50-100lbs to get the car to rotate better. IE If you're getting 400lb fronts, get 450lb rears.

Please don't say that you're upgrading the springs and running the blown out stock shocks though!!!! That's the worst thing you could do!!

i was going to have the spring rate higher in the front because i thought that understeer would be better for a beginner than oversteer. that and the fact that almost every kit i have seen has higher rates for the front

Yep, It's sorta like a choice of get new suspension now and always be a mediocre driver, or run stock for a season, get crappy times but build your skills with the feedback you get from stock susp. and tires, and come back next year a much better driver.

Either way can lead to trouble, eventually you're going to want a balanced car with neither. But at least w/ the GC's you can experiment with the different combinations without having to buy a whole new set of springs (most rates can eventually be found / traded in the RR/AX "race spring buy/trade" thread.)

I'm sorry but the rates you have for the Progress springs are just flat out wrong! Where did you get them?

Progress B-series = 360/200
Progress D-series = 296/200

Call them up, they'll give you the correct rates. By the way I def. recommend Progress products to anyone with a street/track car. They're customer service is great too!

ya i see what your saying. but i actually was also planning on getting a second set of wheels and tires. i just don't want to track my dd tires and wear them out because then were will i be. i will be left needing to buy new daily tires and probably also track tires so i figured i might as well do it right the first time cause in the long run i think its cheaper.

i got my numbers from doing a search. wow only 200 in the rear? i know that would be great for DD but i think it would be horrible for autoX.
