weird exhaust sound at idle...
first off, i'm going to simply assume this is a timing issue. during idle, it sounds like my exhaust is "bubbling". kinda like how a big v8 with lumpy cams idles...blub blub blub blub. i guess that's kinda an ok description...?
thing is, i'm not sure (if it IS the timing)...how the timing is off. I never made any changes, so maybe you guys have some opinions.
i'm having trouble with emissions (HCs for idle), and everybody says to make sure before emissions that the timing is at the stock setting. i assume this issue is timing related, and therefore causing me to fail emissions. makes sense to me.
i don't have the timing belt cover over the cam gear, so i have nothing to really go by as far as setting it to stock. is there another way i can do this? i know the pistons have to be at TDC correct?
searched for this and found one thread under "bubbling exhaust", and mostly everybody replied with exhaust leak information. found many threads on setting the timing, but i'd like to make sure this is a good area to start with before doing any work.
suggestions anybody?

Possible, Its probly a miss. Id adjust the timming also, with a timming light. theres a howto on here somewhere. When was the last time you changed your plugs and wires????

get the piston to top dead center then with the belt off line up those cam gears, reconnect the belt, do your tensioner but back the valve cover.
done.

this is 100% correct. you can adjust it with the dizzy too, once the other side is 100% stock...
