Use OEM Honda...dextron and such will require a friction modifier to be added or you may get harsh shifting.

Well, is there a good non-Honda brand Transmission fluid for a manual tranny?

Yep, me too. I'd like to know what type of oil to use in a manual transmission. Can't find anything in a search.

for manual trannies if you got some slight grinds. do a search in the archived for "synchromesh" you'll come up with tons of posts. you can get it at GM dealers but Pennzoil also makes the same exact stuff for $5 a quart at some Autozones in the gear oil section.

yo guys in a manual just use regular 10w30 motor oil it does not matter the brand, been using it for years never had an issue , dont waste your money with all the other mickey mouse stuff just replace fluid every 30k miles

Honda OEM mtf for 5 speeds and Honda OEM ATF for automatics. Honda makes it and uses it from the factory for a reason.

As deserthonda said use 10w30 for manual transmissions, I was at the dealer a month ago and the mechanic even told me not to wast my money on their brand just go out and buy 10w30 for half the cost. He said it was the same thing just with the Honda MTF logo on it.

couldnt you just use any regular 75W90 gear lube? wouldnt 10W30 be too thin for a tranny?

yeah if you want to burn up 5th gear, its too thick for the differential/pump to move around! Stick with 10w30, that's what the dealorship uses.

If you read your manual, it will state that oil should only be used as a TEMPORARY replacement since it lacks the additives found in a transmission fluid.

Only Honda OEM for me in all my cars.

If you want a synthetic MTF, check out Redline. But I'd only put that in if I was on a road course and was racing all day. For the street, only use Honda TF.
