Canon EOS Rebel XT 350D..Is $599 a good deal?
I just bought a Canon EOS Rebel XT 350D at the Good Guys. It's an open box but there's no scratches or any flaws on it. It doesn't come with anything just the body. Is this a good deal or not? They also have a open box Sony f828 for $719 that I was considering of buying but I don't know what else come with it. Which one is best for the money?
Where is a good place to buy the missing pieces (i.e. lens, battery/charger, memory) other than ebay?
Are the the Sigma brand lens any good?
Any suggestions which lens I would need. I will be using this for outdoors, portraits, cars etc. TIA

You should have just bought a brand new one for 800$ opposed to paying 600 and having to peice everything together, also I think you got a grey market camera which means you wont even have the 1 year manufacture warranty.

Gray market? I didn't know GoodGuys sells knock off products
Do you guys know a place where I can buy it for $800. Around here, it goes for $999.

Battery/Charger combo will bring you up to new prices, not including the fact that its VS a new one, not used.
Okay deal if you can get the extra's cheap.

therse a reason why its open box... employees and customers get rough with it and just dont give a damn about it so they dont take care of it... and it not coming with a battery and stuff thats stupid
This is actually a display and the parts have been misplaced or some employee decided to steal it. It was not powered it was just there to look at and it's pretty clean that's why I thought it was a good deal.
I also bought a 2 years replacement warranty. So if there's something wrong with it and they can't fix it they'll give me a new one.

sorry but I gotta say the joke is on you.
You don't have the Canon software either. Good luck working with your RAW pics when you start shooting with them. 3rd party programs suck. And no he cannot have a warrenty because he has no warrenty card either. Your also lacking the manuel to teach you how to use the camera which is very helpful, esp. for new SLR shooters. To each his own I guess.

Third party programs don't all suck.
You didn't get ripped off. You just didn't get the deal you thought you might have.
Good luck with a nice camera.

ya, no software, battery, memory card, lens, manuals...if it was a display camera who knows what happened to it...ive seen people turn those cameras on without a lens on them and that can mess up the sensor. i personally wouldnt buy a digi slr open box unless i know who has handled it
you are probly ok tho. getting all that stuff is gonna run you id say over $300...and im talking about with a bottom of the line canon lens. if you find something wrong with the pics or the camera in general... raise hell, dont let it go as your loss
