94 del sol , driving back to detroit from NY on the NY STATE THRUWAY
it happend around 2:15 am last nite... and the big *** deer (compared to my sol)
walked out and just stood there... i think i had less than a second to respond.. couldn't switch lanes (trailor in the other lane) .. hit him dead centre ..
went to a body works shop and the estimate is about 5 grand. :-(
CAN anyone please help me find a cheaper place.. or suggest some other way around this.. my insurance is thru RBC and its no fault insurance.. so it doesn't cover hitting a deer

any help is greatly appriciated

5g's? Buy another Sol and swap whatever you have for aftermarket into it.

You have no coverage for deer?? I live here in NY I always make sure I have deer coverage. Those fauckers are everywhere.

 

sorry but i had to laugh at this one. deers... 5k$ is worth more than the car. just part the thing out and get something else. next time, read your insurance policy... you could've said somebody hit and run you? if you have full coverage.

 

Too late now but get the right coverage for the next car, but shop around to different shops i havent seen the pics tht might be high it might not be, post some up so we can see what your working with. For that price tho a new sol would be cheaper. Part the old one out to recover some cash.....

Seeing as how damage from the deer was probably mostly on top of the car how would he try to say it was hit and run... Maybe he could say a Monster Truck ran his car over.

 

ya it was mostly on top of the car.. but the front bumper is gone.. the hood practically got pushed on to the engine and almost has an imprint of it.
headlights gone, aux lights gone.. its alot of body damage..
but thank god no type of internal damage .. it still drives like it did.. i drove it back from ny to detroit and it gave me no problems.. radiator was my first guess after looking at the damage.. but no leaks nothing...

--- if i get insurance thru another company full coverage.. do they usually take pics of the car before insuring the car? just wanted to knwo

 

personally i would go to the junkyard get your hood, lights, bumper, and whatever else you need that you can fix and replace it on your car and then take it to the body shop and ask for a quote but that is if it has no frame damage. the chepaest way is doing what ever you can by yourself .

thats sucks though about the deer. How was the deer?

 

don't take this to seriously but get it into driving order don't know if it is already or not. have a friend in a truck rear end you and have his insurance pay you for a new car because a wreck to the back will probably total the car out. because you have to replace the back quoter panels and that will be over half the cost of the car. pay your buddies deduct able and buy him a case of his favorite beer and promise to return the favor!!!!!!!!!!!

p.s. don't get caught for insurance fraud.

take some body classes and a tech school it could be cheaper then 5 g's, then open your own shop and charge other people that! good luck man i did the same thing to my civic when i first bought it but it was a patch of ice and a tree stump!!

This has got to be the dumbest comment I've heard in a while... It's gonna cost him more than his deductable. His rates will go up not to mention his truck will probably be messed up and he would be out the use of his vehicle until that's fixed and the cost for his repairs. And if they get caught then they will both be taking a nice long involuntary vacation and mess their records up for life. Fraud is no bueno, to you sir.

 

If it's all just body damage and theres no damage to the frame/rad support you can get all the panels for less than 1000$ easily. If you wanna do it the real cheap way get Certafit parts.

alrite guyz..
i went to this junkyard in detroit and this guy is willing to put on a new bumper, hood and paint job. and get the car back to "normal" for $1000 even. All the other quotes i got were nothing less than 2500 USD. Does it seem weird? 1000??? not even close to what the other guyz are giving me. What should i be looking out for?

 

This reminds me of a story my ex-g/f told me before. Her dad hit a deer out in Utah. Hit it dead, but brought it home and ate it, lol.
