Default Tank pads?

My sexy new R6 already has some scratches on the tank.

Anyone know of a pad that doesn't look stupid?

And once on, how do you get them off?

That sounds so wrong on so many levels.

I have a pro grip tank pad on my bike. To get them off, just use a blow dryer and heat up the sticker/pad and it should come off.

I have a carbon fiber one (not a print) that is attached with some adhesive. Its nice and thin so it sits flush with the tank. Removal would destroy the pad, but any good paint friendly adhesive remover would leave no trace.

Depending on your paint finish, some of the clear overlays are good too. They can cover more area where your thighs/knees rub on the sides, and it doesn't look like you have one at all. I have no idea how easy those are to remove, however.

How well would a thick(er) piece of dye-cut vinyl adhere to the paint/tank? So long as there arent any extreme curves, wouldnt it fit w/o wrinkling, while being completely removeable, and still prevent scratching the sides of the tank?

The sides aren't what I'm worried about. It's the area that gets scratched by a belt buckle or a jacket zipper. It's already getting a little f***ed up.

I used these clear stickers from lockhart phillips. They were only like 5 bucks. It came with a piece for each side of hte tank and like 2-3 different combinations for the front of the tank. Hard to notice you have a tank pad from a distance.
