Default vtec turbo tech question

How does turbo work with vtec? Would turbo replace the vtec function? Does turbo kick in first before the vtec? Thanks

Yeah once you get teh turbo on there's no need for VTEC. VTEC doesn't like turbos becuase they make too much power and VTEC hates that. You could try to do it, but I think you could blow up the motor and stuff. VTEC +Turbo = TEH BAD

that is one of the most ill-informed posts i've ever seen on this subject. it should be deleted.

a turbo simply forces more air into an engine, allowing more fuel to be burnt, and more torque to be made. VTEC allows an engine to run different cam lobes for high and low RPMs. VTEC does not allow for more peak horsepower, it simply allows closer-to-optimal valve timing and lift across the entire rpm band (basically designed to allow an engine to make high peak power while not losing much low end torque). the two systems (turbo and vtec) work independently of each other. the only concern with turboing a vtec engine is the same concern that you would run into on any non-turbo engine - that the stock cams are more suited to a n/a motor than a turbo motor. this usually wont be a problem until very high hp applications, if you tune it right.

D00d. I don't know where you get your information from, but that isooooooo wrong man! I heard from this one guy who know this guy with like a 700 horsepower integra that VTEC was TEH BAD when you have turbo, so I'm pretty sure I know what i'm talking about y0. Stop disrespectin

I heard that setting your turbo engagement 500 rpms after your vtec engagement is like having two VTEC's!!!!
