Timing full advance Reading 13 deg... Car Pinging...
I have a h22/eg.... I've changed my clutch and flywheel not to long ago w/ACT components and also just recently went hondata tune w/p28 ecu... i was told that my timing wouldn't exceed 13 degree w/ full advance. so the tuner made a custom timing/fuel map to match the 13 degree that was reading from the timing gun... What was weird was that when i had STOCK clutch and flywheel my timing was set at 16deg w/ the distrubutor sitting in the middle...Well, anyways with the tank of gasoline that my car tune in, cheveron, that first tank didn't make the car ping... it started doing it after my next refueling using cheveron as well... i need help... (i don't know if this might be the problem) but the o2 sensor was disable because it put out a cel and wouldn't go away, might have been a wiring problem i made when i did the wiring... I really need HELP... thanks in advance
91 octane, I assume (CA)?
What is your static c/r?
Check like the other guy posted - make sure the distributor is on correctly (could be off by 180deg), and make sure your timing marks are correct on the crank and cam gears (tdc).
Also, what is your base timing at 800 rpm?
Personally, I prefer base timing to be oe honda spec @ 16 or so and then do your timing maps with the hondata or whatever. Why set it at 13deg? That seems counterintuitive.....

That might be it right there....I'm pretty sure your computer might think you are starving for air and make it run lean. Without the O2 sensor the computer doesn't know any better on how to compensate and make the right A/F Ratio.
Fix your O2 sensor problem and give it another try. Good luck.

A. Ask your tuner if he synced your distributor timing to your hondata maps.
B. Fuel up with gas from another station.
C. Ask your tuner if he kept open loop disabled & 02 heater disabled etc.
You can tune a vehicle & leave the o2 sensor disabled & it shouldnt cause pinging.....
Have your tuner check the intake air temperatures via datalogging to ensure the ecu is not seeing wierd readings. This would cause pinging issues. I have seen it happen plenty of times.

Your maps gonna be fucked up if its not a 16 degree base with Hondata.
Check to see if you jumped a tooth on your timing belt.
If your also using hondata, tell the tuner to disable your o2 and use open loop. It doesnt matter if your sensor isnt even there, it will just run solely off your map, no correction. If you still ping you need to evaluate other things to do with fuel and timing
