Help me choose a loud Induction Kit!
Hi all,
I recently bought a 'UK' 'ITR,' and fit an 'AEM-cai' to it. It sounds nice in the high rpm, but stock low down!
With power gains or loses not being an issue here, what is the loudest, deepest sounding kit that can be bought?
Would a short-ram kit sound alot deeper and louder?
I don't want to ruin the reliable Honda engineering by doing any big mods to the engine, only induction kit and exhaust! -Thanx for any input!

That depends on the cat back you have, i have a legalis-R catback and my open apexi filter on short ram drowns out the exhaust noise over 5500rpms...but when i had on the Spoon N1 the exhaust drowned out everything after 3000rpms!
I have a 'Tanabe-Ultra Medalion' cat-back being shipped over from the 'U.S' at present, then depending on how that sounds, I may also get a de-cat pipe to! But from my past experience with the 'Civic VTi' I had before, the induction kit roar should really compliment the exhaust note, not just one or the other.
To each his own.
But doing a mod or changing mods based solely on sound and disregarding performance gains or losses is just wasting money in my opinion.
Why not just use your stock intake arm with a K&N or Foam filter and leave the box off or open? Makes the same loud "sound" as money spent on a short ram. May not "look" really pretty, and it won't provide any staggering gains but you'll have that all important "sound".

Ditto that. Also, punch a big hole in your exhaust.
On a serious note, why are you wanting to make your car SOUND faster than it really is?

I use my 'ITR' as a daily driver, not on the track or strip. So for this purpose I want reliability and I feel that for my needs the 'ITR' goes quick enough without doing much in the modification line. (I kind of need my driving licence!) It's just that standard, they don't 'sound' upto the way they look or perform. I like the sound of an inducted/upgraded exhaust on a car.-A car can 'sound' nice without having supercar performance.
I agree. If this is what you seek, and your purchasing based soley on sound, then any generic cheapo short ram intake system will do the job. It may kill your bottom end a bit due to heat soak. Personally, I had one one my car when I first purchased it. I f'ing hated it. It was loud, rattled and at low RPM's just cruising it tended to whistle.
Never really understand why people purchase parts to make their cars louder, which results in drawing more attention (most of it unwanted) to them. *shrug
To each his own desire! Hope you find one that works to your liking!

Yeah thanx everyone for the input. I realise there is a clashing of opinions here, but appreciate any positive feedback
. As was quoted earlier, it is only MY opinion and you don't have to understand it....each to his own and I don't suppose I would agree with everyone elses choices on the way they have modified their cars, but that's what makes us all unique!
As for 'ITB's', if I had the money and had the chance to experience another 'ITR' with them on, then I would certainly try that option out! It's just a mod' I have no experience of, so am a little cautious.
